The CMA is located in the Carriage Association of America’s building, which is located near the Saddlebred Museum on the Kentucky Horse Park grounds.

Research Policy:

The CMA exists to serve the carriage community from its resources of a world-class library and panel of experts. Our constituents include collectors, museums, libraries, researchers, and the interested public. Our services include research concerning vehicles, carriage manufacturers, driving personalities, and more.  We are happy to help with your research or answer your questions about carriages. After you submit your question, we will contact you within a few days to discuss the details of your research.

Questions requiring less than 15 minutes of research are answered free of charge. Most research requests take less than 15 minutes.  If more in-depth research is required, the CMA fee is $25 an hour, or any portion thereof. We will contact you before this research begins. The first 10 pages of photocopies via email are complimentary, with further pages at $0.15/ea. Research will be delivered in the appropriate electronic format, or as requested.

Brewster searches (Specifications and Sales sheets) are now complimentary due to the recent CMA/CAA project of having these records digitized.  An image file for each spec and sales record (or a .PDF file, if requested) will be provided for each search, if such record is available.

For every $50 donated to the Library (become a Friend of the Library), we will provide either (a) 2 Brewster searches (Specifications and Sales sheets, if available) or (b) 2 hours of research, without charge. A minimum $50 donation will also allow a 20% discount on one book from our bookstore.
